On stage
Dimitris Louizidis
Description of the play
Marios Chakas wrote about people with dreams and how life got in the way. Poetic and pragmatic at the same time, the writer creates an environment that makes the shock of realization even more intense. Dimitris is an actor who is coming to the end of his theatrical studies or to a new beginning. Mitsos had a dream as well and he did it, he accomplished that dream. His lux toilet. But what happens when you accomplish everything? What is there for you to wait for?
A direction, which has the spectators in a special place with the media it uses. Dimitris and Mitsos co-exist tied to a climbing rope and both feel the need to talk.
Dramaturg’s note
Lux life. Happiness. Restrains. Is there such thing as self-realization? if yes, what is it? And what can a person do, when he succeeds at everything?
Dimitris is doing his thesis and Mitsos is looking through his life’s diary searching for something. He does not know what he is looking for, but then again nobody knows until this something is brought before him.
Mitsos stumbles upon his work, his home, his partner. And he stops wondering “how much is worth this thing called life”, unlike Marios Chakas.
This question was the motive for a stage approach that wants to talk about this rope that has every person tied up. A climbing rope, which in the case of Insectum keeps both the actor and the character restrained and enforces the communication and gap that exists at the same time between the two.
Stella Tsaousi
Instead of a director’s note
Nothing can make you stand at your eye level except of your feet.
And maybe your heart too.
Then you need a rope to keep you standing in those moments when your feet cannot keep going.
That does not mean you will not fall - falls are blessing after all: you look at yourself from down below, just like when you were a little child.
Yannis Didaskalou
2023-2024

Omikronyiota
2024-2025
Description:
Two people await guests in their isolated world. They want to announce something. They refer to it as urgent. Human being. Interdependent. One. Where life still exists. If it exists. One goal. To speak. They invite and welcome all those who have left a mark on them. Is someone a looser? Is someone a winner? They will witness to something that happened just a while ago. —You are trying to say a word. Υou can’t. It is not common for someone to have the whole world ahead of them.
Director’s note
The performance "stumbles" into loneliness, "untangles" human relationships, "questions" the meaning of life, "flirts" with death, "hurts" for the feelings left unexpressed, "bends" under the weight of weakness, "smiles" at imagination, "winks" at all those absurd encounters in our lives. To be honest: I hope this performance “speaks” for the Human within us. That it “speaks” to the Human within us. With innocence and honesty. I hope that it manages to “say” not what it wants, but everything it is afraid to listen.
Dramaturgs' note
Omikronyiota in greek language are two letters: omikron-O and yiota- i. When these two letters are combined they turn into the plural article. The title could easily be "plural number", and omikronyiota - two letters OI- are not just two words. Two people are not just two worlds. They are more than two worlds. They are all the people who have met, the world they are creating, the world that they are constructing every day and destroying every night. If you are going to watch this performance take with you all the people that you ever formed a plural with. Even if you are not together physically you have been and that’s enough.

CRITIC
What is a collective where the individuality of an artist shines and lines
between different art forms blur, but still evolve into a staging of
contemporary theatre production?
This group of emerging artists is a family of friends, supporters,
travellers, and future seekers, and the world is at their hands. Their
work embodies excellence in skills and craft; they understand the
space of their creation, the essence of spoken word, the art of acting
and sharing, and the purpose and meaning of human existence, all
while striking a balance between theatre and everyday life.
There is something elegant, modest, and humble in what they do. Their
performance keeps you glued to the rhythm, sound, and visuality they
create, inviting a spectator to contemplate their existence. They don't
prescribe; they guide, with empathy and an understanding of the
meaning of authentic connections, between two performers, between
themselves, and to those who somehow meet them at the far corner of
the world.
My connection happened in Mongolia. It was unbelievable how site-
specific conditions made them think at that moment, but they created
a new space together, which held the essence of their work, which they
carry with them. It was a light but significant encounter with the world
that completely surprised me. They have a lot to give and plenty to say.
TATJANA AŽMAN, Slovenian dramaturge at Slovenian National Theatre,
theatrologist and playwright.
